SILK BEDDING - SHEETS, PILLOW CASES AND DUVET SETS
Our silk bedding is made to the
highest standard and the fabrics used have been chosen with comfort in mind.
The fabric selected for the bed sheets is what is known as a '
fuji
' fabric, which is a
style of fabric woven with spun silk yarn in a plain weave (the same way as
usual bedding) rather than in a satin weave which gives a more 'slippy' feel. The fact that the yarn is spun, as opposed
to filament, gives the fabric a more cotton-like texture, although of course
it is wonderfully soft, and the softness is enhanced by sandwashing which gives it a 'peachskin' type finish. This is a
23 momie weight fabric, which is a heavier weight even
than most silk satin fabrics, and woven with 2-fold yarns giving it added
strength and durability.
Our fitted sheets (except the wide
long single) are 35cm deep, which is about 13½”. This means they are suitable
for use on mattresses up to a depth of about 11”. The fitted sheets are
elasticated all the way round (not just at the corners) to ensure the sheets
have a neat appearance on the bed regardless of the depth of mattress.
For our pillow cases we use
what is known as a 'habotai' fabric, which is a fabric woven with silk
filament yarn in a plain weave. This fabric has also been sandwashed, which
gives it a 'peachskin' softness. As the filament yarn is very even this means the pillow cases are
very soft to the touch, while of course retaining the special feeling that
only silk can give.
Our full range of silk bedding is supplied in a natural colour (soft ivory)
which is a just off white colour that co-ordinates with just about every
colour (except pure white). Standard size oxford pillow cases are also
available in other colours, details of which can be seen in the shop area of
this website.
All our silk bedding is machine washable at 30° C using a specialist silk
washing agent on a silk or wool cycle wash, and will not suffer any shrinkage
if washed in this way. Full care instructions are of course sent with any

Silk should not be dry cleaned or washed using regular detergents as these
will damage the silk fibres and result in a harder feel afterwards.

choices of upper side fabric so that pillow cases can be chosen to match or
co-ordinate with our range of duvet covers:
i) Sandwashed habotai, as on the underside. This gives a very 'clean'
plain contemporary appearance
ii) 100% silk dupion which is a woven slub (shot) fabric to give the cover a
delicate surface interest
iii)100% silk dobby check - a woven 2.5cm (1") check
The underside fabric in all styles
is a 15 momie sandwashed habotai fabric.
Oxford
pillow cases in pairs are
available in a selection of colours, details of which are given in the shop
area of the website.

Duvet covers are sold separately to
the pillow cases so that customers can order pillow cases of their own choice
of size and style.
